Education is an opportunity of a lifetime starting with early years. It lays the foundation to a child’s development and the thirst for learning. It provides us with knowledge about the world and have a great impact on how we live and how we change the world for the better. Education is a great investment for future careers, and lessons taught about life. It equips us for civilisation, to know fundamentals, values and virtues as well as principles. There is enlightenment, curiosity and the enrichment of society in general.
The future of a nation is safe in the hands of the educated and is important for social development and economic growth of a nation.
Schools are the safest places to be in, to be protected from the bad world and bad people. Schools will give children childhood they never had, and learning social skills helps them to develop friendships and teamwork. To help them forget the traumas and violence around them. Schools are the calm and the peace shut off from the bad world and bad people. Schools are character building and helps with how we can behave and how we can think in our own way.
Knowledge is unlimited and eternal, filling children with richness of their lives. We are rich in knowledge when we acquire so much from it. Without schools, there will never be knowledge which is why education is so very important. We have to acquire knowledge, and the only way we can do that is make sure all children are educated, and that there are schools as places of learning to get educated.
Children are deprived of education in war torn countries which means they cannot acquire any knowledge. This is criminal, as children cannot develop to understand the world and develop for the future. Meaning their brains would be stunted and empty knowing only violence and abuse for their rest of their lives. Only to spread more violence and abuse as they get older with no purpose and objectivity in life.
Education is very important to counter the bad world and bad people, making children emotionally secure and stable and become wise. Gaining wisdom is a great gift to pass on to the next generation and the next forever. With education, the world seem to be a beautiful place with colours, vibrancy of music and knowing the joys and laughter as well as magic of life and peace.
Addendum
Attacks on schools and hospitals by armed conflicts in the Middle East and Africa has other far-reaching consequences on children’s education and health care. As well as attacks on hospitals, the removal of medical kits and surgical supplies from aid convoys, restrictions on medical evacuations, and killing of medical personnel mean that access to critical and life-saving health care for civilians in affected areas is diminishing day by day.
Children are being abducted from their schools in horrific circumstances in countries like Nigeria and South Sudan, while others are being raped, or recruited and used as child soldiers.
At a time of fragility and vulnerability, multiple armed conflicts, millions of people are suffering the consequences of conflict, terrorism, inequality, regional rivalries and severe deficits in basic freedoms. The scale of these challenges demands a more concerted global response.
While we are striving to build a culture of prevention by stressing the peaceful resolution of disputes and by focusing early on violations of human rights before they escalate, to end the conflict and suffering.
And while we stress the importance of building accountable institutions capable of providing services and justice for all, we cannot leave anyone behind. Also we do what we can to end the conflicts and violence by preventing violent extremism from spreading.
Unfortunately, the wars have become too advanced to do anything until the wars are over. Institutions such as schools, hospitals, health facilities have been destroyed. It is going to take years to build new ones.
Everyone is so fragile and vulnerable and exposed to such wars that the inevitable happens frequently. No matter how hard we try and build a new school, it will be destroyed. It is pointless to try and build anything during the conflicts.
We could have prevented all these problems of losing institutions, children and workers in the first place, if we did not advertise schools as sponsored by United Nations, [UN schools] hospitals and health centres under a different banner or whatever.
These buildings were so exposed to extremists who are against education and health care.
We could have prevented the harm to children and workers if we had planned to remove them from existing institutions to safe places such as underground or safe havens.
The only solution now is try and rehabilitate all children and workers away from the war zones to receive further education and healthcare. This is such as being in refugee camps in different countries. We then can salvage what we can to restore normality and security in everyday lives.
We have been short sighted on the subject of how to protect schools, children and hospitals. There are ways to better protect people, ensure access to those in need and build resilience. To prevent attacks on education and health facilities and workers especially employed by UN. Children are being killed, wounded, and permanently disabled in the very places where they should be protected and feel safe.
Although there is a need to urgently protect schools and hospitals by upholding the provisions of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and States must sign the Safe Schools Declaration. There is also the Child Protection Declaration.
Attacks against schools and hospitals are one of the six grave violations against children identified and addressed by the Security Council.
We now know how to address these pressing problems of institutions, children and workers to ensure that life must go on as always. We can still use prevention measures.
